Stefanie Brown is Named Director of OB Unit

Lincoln Medical Center is proud to welcome Stefanie Brown as the new director of the Obstetrics department.

Brown earned her Associate's Degree in Nursing from Motlow State Community College in 2002, and her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in 2003. She is currently pursuing her Master's of Science in Nursing from UAH with concentration in Nursing Leadership and will be graduating in December 2007. Brown is a member of the Tennessee Nurses' Association, American Nurses' Association and The National Scholars Honors Society.

"I began my nursing career with Lincoln County Health System as a Nursing Tech in 1992. This inspired me to pursue nursing as a profession.", states Brown. "Upon graduation from Motlow, I began working at Lincoln Medical Center as a staff RN on the Medical/Surgical Unit, and later worked at Bedford County Medical Center because of a day shift opportunity." While working for BCMC, Brown moved from staff nurse to Patient Care Coordinator, which primarily focused on patient satisfaction.

In October 2004, Brown became the Nurse Manager of the Medical Surgical & Pediatric Unit at BCMC and accepted additional responsibilities as the Swing Bed Coordinator, championing this program and completing the MDSs. Brown also served as OB Nurse Manager for BCMC.

Prior to joining the Lincoln Medical Center team, Brown worked as a staff RN on the Medical/Oncology Unit for Crestwood in Huntsville, AL. "I chose to join Lincoln Medical Center because I wanted to practice in Leadership and be a part of the growing healthcare system right here in my hometown" Brown notes. "I feel that quality patient care is a priority of any health care system, and I use this as a driving force in my own management style. My goals include identifying, planning, and implementing strategies to sustain excellence in the overall delivery of Maternal and Newborn patient care."

Brown is married to Rickey Brown, a lineman with Fayetteville Public Utilities. They have four children; son, J.W. is 25; daughter, Kaycee is 20; daughter, Katelynn is 14; and son, Will is 12. Brown says she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending her son's baseball games, and participating in church activities.
