| April is Occupational Therapy Month! |
| | | |
 | April is designated as Occupational Therapy month nationwide. Here at Lincoln County Health System, our Occupational Therapy department is centered at the Patrick Rehab Center, although our therapists also work in the hospital, home health and school settings.
The Philosophy of Occupational Therapy is to maximize an individuals independent function through the use of purposeful activities. As this requires the use of the hands and upper extremeties, OT over the years also moved to incorporate hand therapy as a major part of the treatment focus. This often involves making custom splints and rehab care following fractures, lacerations or other injuries.
OT also addresses overall functioning in neurologically impaired patients, be it strokes, head injuries, developmental delays or other.
OT's strive to work with the patients to reach their potential and achieve their personal goals. |
