Lauren Ogle was honored with the 2008 Dr. William M. Young Scholarship during the annual Lincoln County Health System Foundation Banquet held on Thursday, June 19, 2008. This scholarship, of which the Foundation named in honor of Dr. Young’s many years of service to Lincoln County, is given each year to a Lincoln County High School senior planning a medical career.
Ogle stated on her application, “When I was 9 years old, my mother took me to see Dr. Young for what we thought was a virus. It turned out to be Juvenile Diabetes. I have come to admire all of the doctors and nurses who have helped take care of me through the years and, therefore, I want to become a nurse.”
This year is the fourth year that the Foundation has presented the Young scholarship, however, it is the first time that it is a four-year renewable scholarship. This opportunity was made possible by the success of the newly developed Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament held in October.
Ogle plans to enter Motlow State Community College’s RN program this fall.
