More than 11 million Americans receive home-delivered health care from home health providers. In their honor, Hospital Home Health & Hospice, an affiliate of Lincoln County Health System, joined the National Association for Home Care & Hospice to celebrate November as National Home Care Month.

“Caring for the sick, elderly and terminally ill in their homes truly is a privilege for us,” said Jean Silfies, Administrator. “Home care professionals, volunteers and modern medicine make it possible for people to stay in their homes, regardless of their condition.”

Hospital Home Health & Hospice not only provides home care, but is the only local hospice provider. Hospice is a service dedicated to providing physical, spiritual, and emotional support to terminally ill patients.

“All too often people facing terminal illness don’t know where to turn for comfort and support,” said Debbie Kilpatrick, hospice social services. “Our goal is to diminish the fears that make people reluctant to talk about death and to let them know about the supportive, compassionate and pain-relieving services that hospice provides.”

Hospital Home Health & Hospice is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission national standards, Hospital Home Health & Hospice proves to focus continuously on raising quality care and patient safety to higher levels.

The staff of Hospital Home Health & Hospice, along with County Executive, Peggy Bevels, celebrated the event with a luncheon on Friday, November 30. Bevels acknowledged the event by signing a proclamation denoting November as National Home Care and Hospice month.

Hospital Home Health was founded in 1983, with Hospice services added in 1992 to provide comprehensive in-home health and supportive services for Lincoln County's disabled and chronically ill patients and their families. Its care-giving team offers services ranging from basic assistance with daily living to advanced medical treatment. For more information, contact Jean Silfies at 931.433.8088.
