Medical Center Sleep Disorder Center Earns Accreditation
Recently the Lincoln Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center achieved accreditation by the American Association of Sleep Medicine. (AASM)
By achieving accreditation a Sleep Center demonstrates a commitment to the provision of quality diagnostic services and the management of sleep disorders; states Billy Joe Brumlow, Center Director.
Accreditation reflects a commitment to insure that sleep disorder patients receive the highest quality of care. AASM accreditation reflects that a facility is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in both diagnostic and treatment of sleep disorders.
Nearly 40 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders. The majority of these problems remain unidentified and undiagnosed. The most common sleep disorders include falling asleep and snoring. LMC Sleep Center evaluates a person’s sleep in a monitored bedroom overnight for diagnosis of sleep disorders. A trained sleep technologist attaches various sensors that monitor brain wave activity, respiration, heart rhythm, oxygen level, and leg movements. The test is interpreted by a physician who is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine. The method of treatment depends on the cause, type, and severity of the sleep disorder.
