Blood Assurance now region’s exclusive blood provider
Blood Assurance, a non-profit regional blood center serving 47 healthcare facilities, is now the exclusive provider of blood products to Lincoln Medical Center in Fayetteville, Tennessee. As the hospital’s sole provider of blood for patients in need, Blood Assurance will host various blood drives throughout the community. These units of blood will be shipped to the main office in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where it will be tested and processed for use by hospital patients served by Blood Assurance.
Residents are encouraged to donate at Blood Assurance blood drives to ensure an adequate blood supply is available at the hospitals where they would be most likely to receive blood should they need it. Individuals have a 95 percent chance of needing blood products by the age of 72.As a regional blood center, Blood Assurance differs from national blood suppliers by covering a smaller geographical area. Headquartered in Chattanooga, Blood Assurance collects blood products in 31 counties throughout Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Donors who have donated multiple units of blood to Fayetteville’s previous blood provider can transfer those credits to Blood Assurance in recognition of their efforts. Blood Assurance is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and is accredited by AABB (formerly known as the American Association of Blood Banks).
