| | Lincoln County began its ambulance service operation under the supervision of the county hospital on September 1, 1972. There was only basic first aid service in the beginning, with nine full-time employees working 24-hour shifts every other day. Two ambulances were staffed twenty-four hours a day. Within a year all employees had successfully completed the state sanctioned EMT (emergency medical technician) training course. The new EMTs gave the citizens of Lincoln County BLS (basic life support) service countywide for the first time.

In 1975 the county had its first three EMT-Paramedics, offering ALS (advanced life support) through the ambulance service. By this time, the ambulance service was recognized as an Emergency Medical Service (EMS). Advances in training and equipment have always been a priority in our ambulance service.
The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) serves Lincoln and surrounding counties with ambulance coverage 24/7. Ambulances are staffed with qualified Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. Every ambulance is equipped with 12-Lead EKG monitors/defibralators. |
