Ambulance EMS

Lincoln County began its ambulance service operation under the supervision of the county hospital on September 1, 1972. There was only basic first aid service in the beginning, with nine full-time employees working 24-hour shifts every other day. Two ambulances were staffed twenty-four hours a day. Within a year all employees had successfully completed the state sanctioned EMT (emergency medical technician) training course. The new EMTs gave the citizens of Lincoln County BLS (basic life support) service countywide for the first time.
In 1975 the county had its first three EMT-Paramedics, offering ALS (advanced life support) through the ambulance service. By this time, the ambulance service was recognized as an Emergency Medical Service (EMS). Advances in training and equipment have always been a priority in our ambulance service.
There have been many advances in EMS for Lincoln County in the last 40 years. Today our EMTs and Paramedics are provided with the latest training and technology to meet the medical emergencies they encounter every day. We have state of the art equipment and aggressive protocols to meet the ever changing needs of our patients.
Presently, Lincoln Medical Center-EMS has three ALS units staffed 24 hours daily and an 8 hour per day BLS day truck for heavy volume days. We average 504 calls per month, 47% of which are emergency responses. LMC-EMS has a total of 19 full time employees consisting of 9 Emergency Medical Technicians and 10 Paramedics with 4 part time Paramedics and 5 part time EMT’s. We operate out of two stations, one located on the Lincoln Medical Center campus and one unit stationed in the south area of the county at the airport.
