LMC to offer Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Lincoln Medical Center is now offering Pulmonary Rehabilitation as a service to the community. This particular program has been shown to improve the sense of control a patient has over their disease as well as their emotions. A patient can be referred by their local physician or by Dr. Bijoy John. Dr. John is a pulmonologist located at Fayetteville Medical Associates. The program lasts for six weeks and helps with such health issues as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Emphysema, Chronic Lung Disease, Chronic Bronchitis, and Asthma. Symptoms of these diseases are shortness of breath, persistent coughing, wheezing, chest tightness and tiredness.
People can learn breathing techniques, exercises to increase strength and endurance, and ways to conserve energy. Some types of examinations that are done in the rehabilitation program are walking and oxygen level tests.
For more information regarding this new service, contact Billy Joe Brumlow at 931-438-7568. To make an appointment with Dr. John, please call 931-433-2551.
